Field trips offer a bridge between the work inside the school and the work outside the school. Field trips can be enjoyable and educational when they are well organized. There are many educational benefits that we can get through field trips. For example, it can bring about a lot of realizations which may lead to change in attitudes and insights. It can nurture curiosity, develop a sense of wonder and build a new experience. Field trips also bring the students to the world beyond the classroom and open a wide range of application. These are rich resources of memorable experiences which are fundamental to learning. And lastly, field trips enable students be connected to the people around and learn on how to communicate with them.
But, in order to avoid failure of study trips, there are some procedures that we should take into consider. 1) preliminary planning by the teacher, 2) preplanning with others going on the trip, 3) taking the field trip itself and, 4) post-field trip follow up activities. Another thing is that about community resources. These can be people or places in the community. The class may invite the dentist to talk about how the students care for their teeth. And in terms of places, the class may go to museums, zoos, public and private libraries or any historical places.
